School of Pharmaceutical Engineering

    The School of Pharmaceutical Engineering is made up relying on the main part of the former Department of Pharmacutics and is one of the earliest departments of the university. The school consists of the Departments of Chemical Pharmaceutics and Biopharmaceutics. There are 114 teaching and administrative members. Among them there are 17 professors or research fellows, 26 associate professors and associate research fellows, 7 senior engineers. Among the teachers over 20 peopie have gone to study in America, Japan, Britain, Canada, Russia and Germany early or late. 80% of the middle-aged or young teachers under the age of 45 have gained master' s or doctor' s degrees.
    The School of Pharmaceutical Engineering now undertakes the tasks of teaching over 60 basic courses, basic courses for the specialities an6 specialized courses. The rnumber of courses undertaken and teaching hours is the biggest in the university. There are 4 supervisors of doctorial students, 26 tutors of postgraduates. Every year over 40 postgraduates and doctorial students are studying under their guidance. There are over 800 undergraduates in the school. They are Jn the 7 specialities of chemical pharmaceutics, medicinal chemistry, micrephar maceutics, bioengineering, pharmaceutical engineering, biotechnique and pharmaceutical engineering by biotechnique. The students in the preceding 6 specialities are undergraduate students (4 school years). In the last speciality the students undertake joint study of undergraduate -master degrees(6 school years) . Since the change of the catalogue of colleges and universities Jn 1999, the school still retains the 3 specialities, chemical pharmaceutical engineering, bioengineering and biotechntque. The preceding 2 specialities belong to specialities of engineering and confer the degree of Bachelor of Engineering, the last speciality belongs to a speciality of science and confers the degree of Bachelor of Science.
    The sienctific research is very active in the school of pharmaceutical engineering and is the main sector of research and development of synthetic drugs as raw materials and biotechneque drugs as raw materials of the University. In recent years the school early or late has undertaken 7 projects of National Fund of Natural Science, 5 projects of National Key Research, 4 projects of National Fund of New Drugs, over 10 projects of Province or Ministry, over 20 projects of crosswide tasks for study facing production. The school has successfully researched and developed a new drug of the first class. This project is one of the five new drugs of the first class during the Ninth Five- Year Plan and has been praised by the department concerned of the State. At present the school is developing a new drug of the first class. In recent years the school has gained 20 certificates of new drugs of 1st, 2nd and fourth classes and many pdzes for the development of science and technology.
