School of Pharmacy

    The School of Pharmacy is made up on the basis of the former Department of Pharmacy of Shenyang Pharmaceutical University and is one of the earliest departments in the university. The School consists of the Departments of Pharmaceutics, Pharmacology and Pharmaceutical Analysis. The number of the teaching and administrative staff is 136, among them there are 23 professors, 26 associate professors, 9 senior engineers, 25 tutors of postgraduates, 15 supervisors of doctorial students. There are over 1700 full-time students in the School, among them over 100 doctodal students, over 300 postgraduates and over 1300 graduate students. The teachers' capability is tremendous and the School possesses a contingent of backbone of teaching and scientific research with better basis, full strength and young age.
    In the School there are over 30 teachers who are members of the appraisal group of the Academic Degree Committee of the State Council, of the Expert Comittee of the State New Drug Research and Development, of the appraisal group of the National Prize for the Development of Science and Technology, of the Committee of Pharmaceutical Special Topics of the Pharmaceutical Committee of the Ministry of Public Health, of the commission of the State Pharmacopoeia and leaders of academic units at home and abroad and editor-in-chief, vice-editor-in-chief or editors of nationwide and international journals or periodicals. They enjoy higher prestige at home and abroad. While the school finishes the teaching tasks of all levels it also undertakes over 10 key projects of the State and the research projects of natural science fund of the State, 5 research projects of the New Drug Research Fund of the State, over 50 research projects from the State, Province or City. The school has gained a series of research achievements, obtained many certificates of new drugs. Some projects have been up to the international advanced level, many projects have filled in the gaps of internal research. All the disciplines of the school have doctor degree -conferring gift and master degree-conferring gift and the school has a postdoctoral scientific research center. At present the school has the only key discipline" Pharmaceutics" of the national level and has posted a position of specially-engaged professor. In the school there is a class(joined study of undergraduate- master- doctoral degrees) of the national science base which mainly trains the senior pharmaceutical talents who have a good command of English and master substantial, thick and broad basic theories of pharmacy and professional knowledge, have latent energy of further training and can undertake the basic research of pharmacy independently. Pharmacy speciality(Bachelor of Science) and the speciality of drug preparations(Bachelor of Engineering) mainly train senior professional pharmaceutical talents who undertake pharmaceutical study and design, study, preparation, production and quality control of pharmaceutical preparations. Pharmacy classes (English or Japanese) mainly train senior pharmaceutical professional talents who have a good command of English or Japanese and undertake pharmaceutical research and development, production and management, in the past seventy years the school of pharmacy had trained large numbers of senior pharmaceutical talents and among them many have gained outstanding achievements and have become well- known experts, scholors and leading backbone of enterprises and institutions in China and the world.
